Hi there, I have a problem with my computer and was directed here after I had my hijack this log sorted out. In the process of sorting out the log I came across a recuring nightmare of a problem. Everytime I open a program I get a Microsoft office installer boxes opening up. I am running XP, sp2 and office 2003 and have been with no problem for quite a while until the last 2 weeks. Here is a description of what happens when I open a program.
When I boot up my system everything looks fine until I try to open most programs Now, when I click on a program to open it these boxes pop up 1. Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 Gathering required information 2. Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'PRO11.MSI' in the box below. Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 Error 1706. Setup cannot find the registered files. Check your connetion to the Network, or CD-ROM drive.
For other potential solutions to this problem, see c: Program Files Microsoft Office OFFICE11 1033 SETUP.CHM If I click cancel fast enough when the first box pops up then the rest don't pop up at all but if I am running a bit slow to cancel it all of the pop up. When I open Outlook the same boxes pop up except if I am moving quickly and cancel it right away it continues to pop up 6, 8, 10 even as many as 14 times or more until the program is done loading but they are exactly the same boxes. When I cancel out of them all Outlook runs fine afterwards as do all thr programs that trigger these boxes to open, even my installed Office 2003 applications. There seems to be a bunch of programs that don't trigger its opening Nero Corel AVG Quicktime any of the spyware programs just about everything else triggers it.
Under normal circumstances I would delete Office and reinstall from the original disc except that my CD drive is broken and I am unable to replace it yet. If I knew how to load it from a networked drive I would do it that way but I don't know how. Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.
